We offer Ballet classes in Dublin for all ages, from 3 years to adults. Our classes are taught in the Russian Vaganova style and include ballet technique, repertoire, pointe work and character dance.
Our Ballet Classes are broken in to four specific areas, which are detailed below.
We spend the first portion of class warming up our bodies safely to prevent injury. As the students get older and gain expierence, we expect them to do this on thier own before class starts. We then move to the barre. The ballet barre steadily builds strength and teaches the correct body placement for ballet dancers. It is a crucial part of training and challenges your flexibility, strength, balance and precision. The barre is where you can begin to develop the right muscles and co-ordination, which is very specific for ballet.
We then move to the centre of the room where we take what we've been working on at the barre and combine the excerceises into short combinations to test ourselves on balance, turn out, co-ordination and technique. It is in the centre where we work on the more difficult steps in ballet like turns and jumps.
Towards the end of each class we learn different dances from major ballets to help our students learn more about performing, the history of ballet and how to express the character of the role you are dancing.
At the end of each class we take a few minutes to work on our flexability and core muscles. We do this at the end of class as our bodies are warm enough to push students to their maximum flexability without damage. We also do some excecises to work on a stronger core, legs, arms and back. All these excercises are crutial to unlock a students full potential.
